TwentyNinety OFFERS FREE ACTIVE ARRAY™ TRIALS
5th March 2009

Cleantech developer TwentyNinety has launched free trials of its unique Active Array™ system, which makes Photovoltaic arrays safer and more efficient.  PV project financiers and high quality PV manufacturers can now benefit from the system for free, ahead of the product launch later in the year.

Active Array™ is an innovative low cost wireless technology which allows communication with each module in a PV array.  The system tunes the array in response to changing conditions to maximise efficiency.  It also individually identifies poor performing modules, allowing easy problem diagnosis and resolution, and keeping the system at maximum output throughout its lifetime.  It provides unique module by module monitoring data. It also offers additional fire, theft and safety protection.

Richard Pitkin, Managing Director: “Active Array™ offers great benefits to high quality PV manufacturers and installers.  But overall the greatest advantages are to end users themselves.  The technology offers a way for customers and project financiers for the first time to understand exactly what is happening in their arrays, to identify poor performing panels, to optimise the output, and to maximise their return on investment.”

Innovative UK start-up TwentyNinety has developed the low cost Active Array™ over three years.

Simon Hombersley, Chairman: “PV enabling technologies are developing quickly, and there have been several new Balance of Systems products announced since we started developing Active Array™.  It’s exciting as a dynamic, young company to be operating in a field with major players such as National Semiconductor, and to be offering to the industry a uniquely powerful tool with functions competing companies simply can’t provide.”
